Metaphor is not just a linguistic phenomenon, it is also a cognitive way of human understanding of the objective world. Chinese and Japanese words have a lot of metaphors. Because of its familiarity with the body structure, physiology and living habits of animals, humans are good at projecting certain characteristics of animals onto the human body, that is, a large number of animals that are based on the conceptual metaphor of “animal is human” metaphor. By contrasting and analyzing the metaphorical phenomena of animal words in Chinese and Japanese, we find that there are both commonalities and differences. Commonness is based on the common cognitive foundation and way of thinking of humankind, while the differences come from different cultural backgrounds, customs and life Environment and so on.
