现代工科院校更加注重培养应用型人才,它是以提高学生的工程意识、工程能力及开拓创新为目的的教育,即工程能力的素质培养。作者从两个方面探讨了怎样加强对学生工程能力的素质培养,一方面是培养学生掌握解决工程实际问题最一般的方法,例如研究小变形构件的一般方法、叠加法计算弯曲梁的位移和组合梁的应力。另一方面在工程力学研究问题的过程中,培养学生科学推理、训练逻辑思维方法及正确表达工程问题的能力,例如分析小变形、弹性构件是否安全的过程、“发展想象能力”的形象思维的培养过程。
