The fine snow and the ancient capital are the masterpieces of Junichiro Tanizaki and Kawabata Yasunari respectively. The two works show great similarities in terms of topics and aesthetic orientation, and convey strong Japanese cultural connotations. After experiencing the pre-creation process of “the beauty of the devil” and “the beauty of nothingness”, the two experienced the return journey to Japanese classicism. The two works, “Fine Snow” and “Ancient Capital,” are the masterpieces of the restoration of national consciousness and the return to the classical beauty of Japan. The works show us the ideal world of typical Japanese traditional aesthetics, where the soul of two “heresy” writers is comforted.
