The 19th Shanghai International Exhibition on Textile Industry (ShanghaiTex 2019 for short) will be held at Shanghai New International Expo Center (Pudong) from November 25th to 28th. At present, the exhibition has entered the final preparation stage. What is the scale of this exhibition? What new highlights and new features will be presented? To this end, the reporter interviewed Liu Weiping, the general manager of Shanghai Textile Technology Service & Exhibition Co., Ltd., the person in charge of the organizer of the exhibition.
China Textile: What is the scale of this exhibition? Compared with previous exhibitions, what characteristics will this exhibition show?
Liu Weiping: The exhibition area of this exhibition is 100,000 square meters. In addition to the production equipment such as textile knitting technology, hosiery technology, dyeing and printing, digital printing, etc., intelligent systems, dyes and textile chemicals, The “Textech Startup Planet Zone” was added to focus on AI artificial intelligence, startup enterprises, and the innovative development of wearable technology in the textile and fashion industries. It provides a platform for textile and fashion-related start-ups around the world to showcase a new range of yarns fabrics, innovative wearable technology, creative new retail solutions, AI artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, 3D tailoring, clothing recycling and other technologies, inspired many investors, brands and manufacturers to seize business opportunities. It is expected that more than 1,200 companies from more than 20 countries and regions will participate in the exhibition, attracting 65,000 professional buyers from all over the world to visit and purchase.
ShanghaiTex 2019 leads the future of textile and fashion trends. It is expected to bring together more than 1,200 companies to showcase innovative textile fashion technology, closely follow the theme of the exhibition, “Smarter Textile, Better Life”, establish a one-stop business information platform. At the same time, it will work with the industry to build a better life with textile technology through theme seminars, competitions and “Textech Startup Planet Zone”.
Since its inception in 1984, the first Shanghai International Exhibition on Textile Industry has been dedicated to building a platform for the exchange of new textile equipment, new technologies and ideas, and to contribute to the development of the Chinese textile industry. In recent years, with the support of China National Textile and Apparel Council, China Textile Machinery Association and the textile associations of 15 provinces and cities across the country, the exhibition has been closely focusing on the development concept of“science and technology, green and fashion” and strives to create a communication platform closer to the needs of enterprises and market changes. Adhere to the theme of “science, technology, green and fashion”
China Textile: This exhibition is closely related to the theme of “science and technology, green and fashion”. Can you introduce the main features of science and technology?
Liu Weiping: ShanghaiTex 2019 is the first national brand textile industry exhibition held in China. The organizer of the exhibition keeps innovating the idea of holding the exhibition, expanding the new exhibition section and striving to open up the whole industry chain of the textile industry. The exhibition brings together the world’s top textile machinery to build a professional, authoritative and forwardlooking exhibition platform for technological innovation, cooperation and exchange, and trade exchanges of China’s textile industry.
Based in Pudong and facing the world, while consolidating the traditional textile industry, the exhibition uses innovative technologies such as intelligent manufacturing to build a new cross-border sector, with the task of breaking the current predicament of the textile industry and looking forward to the intelligent future. We should closely focus on the needs of the industry to hold exhibitions. Without considering the needs of the industry, no matter how big the exhibition is, it doesn’t make sense.
In this exhibition, the progress of science and technology is mainly reflected in the intelligent manufacturing and automation of spinning equipment. The “13th Five-Year Program” mentioned that it is necessary to promote several intelligent production demonstration lines such as spinning, dyeing and printing, and chemical fiber in the industry. These products will be seen in this exhibition.
After successfully holding the “2018 International Textile Intelligent Manufacturing Summit Forum” on the first day of last year, this year’s exhibition will also hold the 2nd International Textile Intelligent Manufacturing Summit Forum, and set up the “Textile Smart Manufacturing Zone” to explore the technical ideas and difficulties of the intelligent upgrading of the textile industry, the experience and interpretation of intelligent manufacturing demonstration projects have been implemented by solution providers, textile colleges and user enterprises. Experts and professors from textile colleges and universities, representatives of textile machinery benchmarking enterprises, and robot enterprise representatives will also exchange ideas on the intelligent production of the textile industry, share the efficiency improvement and intelligent management experience of textile enterprises, and promote the structural adjustment and transformation of the textile industry. China Textile: How is the concept of fashion and green reflected in this exhi- bition?
Liu Weiping: In the past few years, we have also done a lot of work in fashion, mainly combining sportswear, knitwear, and especially wearables for fashion interpretation. Nowadays, wearables are not only improved in terms of fabrics, but also combined with other aspects. For example, it can detect people’s health status, which belongs to the category of lifestyle.
Everyone knows that ShanghaiTex mainly focuses on textile machinery, and many people directly call this exhibition“Shanghai Textile Machinery Exhibition”. So why do we have to add fabric and clothing elements? This involves a fashion issue. In fact, everyone knows that it takes a long time for textile machinery to achieve major breakthroughs in principle, but the textile and apparel products produced by the equipment are changing every year. In fact, the changes in textile and apparel products are also changing equipment. When we add fashion, we also want to guide everyone to combine this change in equipment with fashion.
In fact, the popularity of one-time molding equipment comes from this technological transformation combined with fashion. Now knitting, weaving, flat knitting machines, circular weft machine, etc. can be made into one-time molding products. In the past, lace fabrics were very luxurious. Now all women’s clothes, handbags, uppers, home textiles, etc. are using lace fabrics in large quantities, mainly because of the breakthrough of warp knitting high-speed lace machine. Our exhibition is to follow the trend of technology and products. We want to let customers know what products these devices can make to meet the new needs of the market and let them see them at the exhibition site. We just want to tap the needs of the market and present them to the majority of users.
Another theme is green. In the past, for dyeing and printing equipment, our focus was mainly on how to save water in the setting machine and dyeing machine, and how to produce denim in a more environmentally friendly way. This year, we plan to introduce some environmental protection dye auxiliaries in Textech Galaxy, because only when the equipment is combined with environmental protection dye auxiliaries to produce more environmentally friendly products. We should organize exhibitions around the theme of“science, technology, green and fashion”, hoping to play a real role in promoting the industry. Exhibition organization is diverse
China Textile: How about the registration of exhibitors?
Liu Weiping: At present, ShanghaiTex 2019 has issued invitations with more than 70 industry organizations in the target countries. Nine delegations have confirmed visits including Vietnam, Taiwan Province of China, Indonesia, India, Brazil, Pakistan, South Korea, etc., ten visiting groups have strong initial response, including Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Malaysia, Laos, Russia, Iran, etc.
In terms of media, ShanghaiTex has sent invitations to South Korea, Taiwan Province of China, India, Japan, Romania, Russia, Bangladesh, Turkey, Hong Kong, Singapore, Ukraine, France, Spain, the United Kingdom and other regions. At present, it has confirmed that 24 industry media include (Textile school, FASHION, T.EVO, MCL, Textile Focus, etc.); at the same time, it will continue to strengthen media cooperation in the Middle East. The Bangladesh and Ukrainian media will form a reader group to visit the exhibition.
Every year, ShanghaiTex invites VIP buyers from overseas to visit and purchase. According to statistics, in 2017, most of the VIP buyers were mainly major brands and OEMs, among which the brands include H&M, MARKS & SPENCER, GAP, LI&FUNG, SKECHRS, etc., while OEM manufacturers include YAOI and Pou Chen Group, Welfare, Nan Yang Textile Group, CRYSTAL GROUP, etc.
China Textile: Will there be events and forums held in the same period?
Liu Weiping: In recent years, with the rise of start-ups, they have played a huge role in solving the problem of breaking through traditional business and striving for market share by developing new products and services. For example, Goxip, a startup enterprise, in collaboration with international brands and e-commerce giants such as Adidas, NET-A-PORTER, ASOS, etc., uses image search technology to help users find fashion items, with 600,000 users per month, an average consumption of about USD 40 per order, which has huge business opportunities. In view of this, ShanghaiTex 2019 will continue to hold the WTTDC to promote young designers and industry to create creative materials and crossover new technology applications, so that technology can perfectly combine textiles and fashion to bring a better life.
In addition, ShanghaiTex 2019 focuses on the production of sports and leisure clothing, organic harmless materials and special functional clothing related equipment and materials, to help enterprises to seize the fast-growing sports and leisure, women of all ages, babies and the elderly fashion market. At the same time, a series of forums will be held during the exhibition. Representatives and experts will give opinions on the textile industry 4.0, environmental protection, automated production, fashion trends, etc., to help the audience find high value-added, high-profit business inspiration. The business will also provide business matching services, quickly contact buyers and suppliers to jointly seize business opportunities.
The AIFT 2019 conference will also be held during the exhibition. With the success of the first AIFT conference in Hong Kong in 2018, the Shanghai AIFT 2019 conference will continue to provide an open platform for researchers, engineers and industry professionals in the field of AI and fashion textiles to conduct extensive exchanges and discussions on the development of cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology and its practical application in the fashion and textile industry, to create partnerships between academics and industry, and create opportunities for future global partners.
China Textile: What improvements have been made to the service in this exhibition?
Liu Weiping: Under the background of the gradual dilution of the trade func- tion of the exhibition, the 19th Shanghai International Exhibition on Textile Industry adheres to the road of independent innovation, establishes a solid market position and brand advantage in the industry, and continuously expands the form of foreign trade. In addition to the technical means such as the “big data cloud marketing system” that has been put into use in the previous exhibition and achieved good publicity, the organizers of the exhibition closely follow the market demand and combine the national strategy of “Yangtze River Delta integration” development, visited textile and related industry associations and industrial clusters in various provinces and cities, communicated with enterprises, deeply explored the production and trade needs of enterprises, and actively invited them to go to the exhibition site for visits and purchases. We have also established long-term communication and liaison mechanisms with consulates in various countries in Shanghai, and seize the development opportunities of the“Belt and Road” and promote business exchanges with enterprises from all over the world, and invite relevant enterprises and units to open up overseas markets and seek new business opportunities at the exhibition site.
At the same time, in order to strengthen the intellectual property protection of the exhibition and safeguard the rights and interests of exhibitors, the 19th Shanghai International Exhibition on Textile Industry will continue to set up an IPR infringement consulting office, invite relevant departments to enter the exhibition site, and provide intellectual property rights for exhibitors and visitors. Consultation and handling complaints and disputes concerning intellectual property rights. In addition, in order to improve the audience’s viewing experience and advocate green exhibitions, the 19th Shanghai International Exhibition on Textile Industry will use WeChat online registration to simplify the registration process. The organizer recommends that the audience at home and abroad pre-registration in advance, and pre-register the green channel for free replacement of the badge for quick access. Related links
