Objective To understand the serum levels of five minerals in obese children with different degrees and provide the basis for child health care. Methods Sixty-two simple obese children were selected, including 63 mild obesity, 42 moderate obesity and 57 severe obesity. At the same time, 84 normal children were selected as the control group. The content of calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium and copper in serum of children in each group were detected by atomic absorption spectrometry. The levels of hemoglobin and serum ferritin were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The levels of superoxide dismutase SOD and Alkaline phosphatase levels. LSD method was used to compare serum mineral levels of obesity group and control group. Multivariate linear regression model was used to analyze the relationship between serum minerals and related functional indexes and body mass index (BMI). Results Serum levels of calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium and copper in children with severe obesity were lower than those in the control group (P <0.05). The levels of hemoglobin, serum ferritin and superoxide dismutase in children with moderate and severe obesity were lower than those in the control Group (P <0.05). Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that BMI was negatively correlated with serum calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, copper, serum ferritin and superoxide dismutase (P <0.05), while BMI had no correlation with serum hemoglobin and alkaline phosphatase (P> 0.05). Conclusion Obese children have lower levels of serum minerals than normal-weight children, and mineral supplements should be strengthened in obese children.
