应澳大利亚国际树作物研究所国际秘书Geoff Wilson先生的邀请,我们于1987年9月19日—11月6日,赴澳大利亚墨尔本市奥林达村饲料树木有限公司传授泡桐栽培技术。 该公司由Chris Lucas先生负责,类似中国的林业专业户,有3—4名雇员,经营土地60亩,全部用来繁殖商品树木。由于市场对泡桐苗木有一定需求量,Lucas本人曾采用大田撒种育苗,但成苗率极低,生长不良,对定植的幼树无从管理。为了准备我们去传授技术,他做好了充分准备,收集了中国和当地泡桐的种子和花粉,树根;盖了塑料大栅,备足了营养土和营养纸袋,购置了农具及肥料,留足了土地。
At the invitation of Geoff Wilson, International Secretary, Australia International Tree Crop Research Institute, we conducted the Paulownia cultivation technology at Olinda Feed Tree Co., Ltd., Melbourne, Australia, from September 19 to November 6, 1987. The company is headed by Mr. Chris Lucas, a forestry specialist in China with 3-4 employees and 60 acres of land, all of which are used to breed commercial trees. Due to the market demand for Paulownia seedlings, Lucas himself used to seed the field seedlings, but the seedling rate is very low, poor growth, the management of the young tree planting.
