一、开发背景 快速SRAM(静态随机存取存储器)近来已将其应用范围扩大到作为超大型计算机、主计算机、工作站和个人计算机的超高速缓冲存储器,或者是作为测量仪器和通信设备的缓冲存储器。特别是,当更多的微处理机产品在市场上日益成为实用产品时,要求开发快速SRAM作为一种能描绘微处理机全部性能的超高速缓冲存储器。 为了满足这一要求,NEC推出了支持Mips的_μPD461016L和_μPD461018L以及支持PA-RISC~(TM*1)的_μPD46258。今次,NEC开发了1兆位CMOS同步快速SRAM,可以用作Intel公司Pentium~(*2)和IBM公司Power PC~(*3)的二次超高速缓冲存储器。
I. BACKGROUND OF DEVELOPMENT Fast SRAM (Static Random Access Memory) has recently been extended to include cache memories as supercomputers, mainframe computers, workstations and personal computers, or as buffer memories for measuring instruments and communication devices . In particular, as more microprocessor products are becoming more and more useful products on the market, it is demanded to develop fast SRAM as a cache memory that can characterize the full performance of a microprocessor. To meet this requirement, NEC introduced the _μPD461016L and _μPD461018L for Mips and the _μPD46258 for PA-RISC ~ (TM * 1). This time, NEC has developed a 1-megabit CMOS synchronous SRAM that can be used as a secondary cache for Intel’s Pentium® (* 2) and IBM’s Power PC ™ (* 3).
