遂川金柑是我省优良柑桔品种之一,栽培历史悠久。据宋韩彦直记载:“金柑出江西,北人不识,景佑(公元1053年)中始至汴都,因温成皇后嗜之,价遂贵重”。说明遂川金柑已有九百多年的栽培历史。遂川金柑素有“色、香、味、景之绝”的赞誉,历代选为贡品。金柑果实较小,汁少味甘,芳香悦人,风味醇厚,含有人体所需的有机酸、矿物质、果胶和大量碳水化合物,尤其是维生素的含量极为丰富。金柑熟果每100克果汁中,含有维生素C44.4毫克。营养价值高,宜鲜食和作蜜饯,亦可作药用,具有化痰祛咳,对慢性气管炎有一定的食疗效果。据考证,遂川金柑是金柑与罗浮的杂交种,分类上叫金弹,为常绿灌木,性喜温暖潮湿,适应性强,能耐-12℃低温,适应于微酸性的土壤中生长,喜欢漫散光,偏阴性。
