It is well-deserved that Yuri Alexandrovich Phillipchenko and Nikolai Ivanovich Vavilov were among the founding fathers of genetics in our country. They were both of the same age (Vavilov was five years old) and had similar scientific interests and worked in the same city for about a decade. Naturally, their fate is also closely linked.
