The distribution characteristics of heavy metals in sediments and organisms in the intertidal zone of Jinjiang City, Fujian Province and their main influencing factors were studied. The results showed that the content of Cu, Pb, Cd and total Cr in surface sediment heavy metals except the total Hg were significantly higher in estuaries and semi-enclosed gulfs than those in open gulfs and open sea areas close to the Taiwan Strait. Moreover, in recent years, Most of the heavy metal content showed an increasing trend. The heavy metals in the sediment had a good correlation with the type and organic matter content of the heavy metals in addition to the total Hg. The enrichment abilities of the three kinds of economic shellfish to heavy metals were: The enrichment coefficients of Cu for oysters, emus and clams were n × 104, n × 103 and n × 103, respectively. The enrichment coefficients of Pd and Cd for the three species of shellfish were both n × 102.
