According to research by a research team at the University of Oxford, our perception of the taste of food is influenced by tableware. Cutlery size, weight, shape and color can affect the taste. For example, cheese can be harder to pick than a spoon, and a white spoon can make the yogurt taste better. Research shows that the brain makes judgments about the taste before it reaches the mouth. Over 100 students participated in three experiments on the impact of tableware weight, color and shape on taste. They found that when the weight of the tableware matched expectations, it affected the taste of the food. For example, using small spoons traditionally used to eat desserts will make the taste of the food feel sweeter. Color is also an important factor affecting the taste - eat white cheese with a white spoon is considered more than black
