When a Brillouin-shifted signal interacts with two strong pump light propagating in opposite directions in the Brillouin-activated medium, a conjugate field is generated exponentially with time until it is pumped down, And thus produce a high reflectance (greater than 106). This technique is useful for conjugate weak signals (less than 10-13 J) or for the transfer of most of the pump energy to conjugate light.
