Preface Active Noise Reduction (ANR) is an electronic system that uses continuous sampling of a small loudspeaker to collect noise samples from the headset’s ear. The phase of these signals is sent through the head and the receiver’s microphone is flipped and the level of noise is reduced by destructive interference with the sound field. The system provides good low frequency noise attenuation. However, aircrews subjectively disagree about ANR. Current research attempts to put ANR on noise
