人们普遍认为年轻人易患龋齿,中年以后龋齿发生率下降。但老年人牙釉质的抗龋能力是否强于年轻人,尚不清楚。本研究用人工龋方法对老年人双尖牙和年轻人新萌出的双尖牙进行了比较。选用正畸拔除的恒双尖牙和65岁以上老年人牙周病拔除的双尖牙各为一组。每组10个牙齿。将牙齿放在含10%凝胶,pH4.0;氟离子浓度0.45ppm的人工龋液中作用10周。形成人工龋后在偏光显微镜下观察,比较龋损区的深度和结构。用离子选择电极法测釉质含氟量。
