Shes 14 now. Everyone warned us. There will be times when shes still your little girl. And there will be other times when suddenly she becomes angry. You will wonder where everything went wrong. Everyone warned us， and we doubted them.
It is night time， and Im picking her up， and she is happy. She used to be happy. She shows me a picture that she wants to give to a friend. She asks if its OK. Actually， I tell her its OK. Actually I dont know if its OK； Im trying hard to keep up with the rule. She is happy.
Shes in a curious mood. She used to be curious all the time. “Tell me a story of when you were a little boy，” shed say. She does not say that much now. She cries sometimes， “I dont need your help！” “Get away from me！ You dont understand！”
For her， the clock moves forward， and she wants to look forward—theres so much out there. In a year， she will be in high school. In two years， she will be able to drive. In three years， she will start working hard for colleges. Forward！ Always forward！ But I look back！ Always back！ I am caring her， her tiny head on my shoulder， and Im singing songs trying to get her to fall asleep. I am helping her with her math homework. I am watching Me Princess Bride with her for the first time.
“Hey， Dad，” she asks， “Can I play some music？”
“Sure”， I tell her. Then the song begins. Its her favorite song. I previously introduced her to it. She looks up at me and smiles. Shes 14 now. In the coldness of the evening， she smiles at me， and holds my hand， and we sing together.
她现在十四岁了。每个人都这样警告我们。有时她还是你的乖乖女；可是有时她却突然生气了。你会想知道到底哪里出错了。每个人都这样警告我们，我也怀疑他们。

“嗨，爸爸，”她问道，“我能放一些音乐吗？”
“可以”，我答道。然后歌曲开始了，是她最喜欢的歌曲。我之前介绍给她的。她抬头看着我微笑。她现在十四岁了。在这寒冷的夜晚里，她朝着我微笑，并且握住我的手，我们一起歌唱。
