Luke: Oh, man. You don’t look so good. Are you
1)faking it again so you can 2)skip another day of school?
Andy: No. I think I’ve really caught something. I feel terrible and I’m 3)dizzy, burning up and can’t
stop sneezing.
Luke: Did you kiss Karen? Maybe she gave it to you.
Andy: Ha ha, very funny. No, there was no kissing, but we had some amazing conversations. There’s so much more to her than what you see on the surface. I think there is a connection between us.
Luke: Well, I’m so glad you had a wonderful date. But I’m not going to give you any sympathy for being sick. It serves you right. ①I had to look Sarah in the eye and tell her you were sick, knowing perfectly well you were enjoying a day at the beach. ②Don’t ever put me on the spot like that again. This is what you get for being The Boy Who Cried Wolf.
Andy: OK, I get it. ③What goes around, comes around. I feel like 4)crap. Give me a break,
would you?
Luke: Oh, I thought you had a break yesterday.
Andy: Now I’m going to be so far behind on my study. I should have listened to you. School comes first. Lesson learned.
Luke: Well at least you learned something. (There is a knock at the door) Who’s that?
Andy: Oh, no. I bet it’s Karen. ④She said she might drop around. You’ve got to get rid of her.
Luke: You sure you want me to tell another lie?
Andy: Yes. She can’t see me like this; just tell her I’m not home.
Luke: Hey, Andy. You’ve got a visitor.
Andy: What? Oh, Sarah. Hi.
Sarah: Hi. How are you feeling? Oh, Luke wasn’t exaggerating. You really do look horrible.
Luke: Yeah, it’s some mystery virus.
Sarah: I really didn’t want you to fall behind on your study so early in the semester, so I brought some study notes for you.
Andy: Oh, you didn’t need to do that.
Sarah: And there are also all these extra case studies I brought that you can look over if you are bored. ⑤They should give you a leg up for
the exam.
Luke: I guess there is an upside to being sick—all this free time to do extra study.
Andy: Yeah. Lucky me.
