High-calcium diet can reduce the nephrotoxicity of gentamicin (GM), which is generally believed to be due to the competition of calcium ion (Ca2 +) to inhibit the binding of GM to the tubular membrane of the renal tubular cells. However, high calcium intake can inhibit the secretion and activity of parathyroid hormone (PTH) in vivo. PTH can affect renal cortical acid phospholipid metabolism, increase brush border GM receptor number and proximal tubule Ca ~ (2+) influx. The experimental design is to understand PTH and Ca ~ (2+) in GM
