PURPOSE: This study aims to investigate the regulatory effects of social anxiety on the selective attention of potential admission cues (positive faces) in exile. Methods: The subjects were randomly assigned to the deportation or control group, and after using the ball throwing task to perform the banishment / control manipulation, the modified version of the point detection task was used to measure the attention bias of the positive face in orientation and departure. Results: The adjustment effect of social anxiety on exile manipulation was significant in disregarding the positive face. The simple effect analysis showed that the low social anxiety test participants disengaged from the positive face more slowly after being banished, while those with high social anxiety disengaged more fast. Conclusion: The level of social anxiety can significantly regulate the individual’s attention to the positive face from the processing process after exile, which has important implications for understanding the origin and maintenance of social anxiety.
