以乌鲁木齐市为例,在简要分析区域水资源开发与绿洲城市发展相互作用基础上,通过拟合城市人口、经济规模增长与水资源利用两者之间关系的变化轨迹,剖析了不同发展时期城市与水资源的协调过程,分析了水价、用水结构、用水效益等因素对两者相互适应的影响作用,总结归纳了初级协调、扩展协调、扩张矛盾、适应矛盾、适应协调5个发展阶段的不同特征．
