七十年代至八十年代初,美国成功地加强了它在东盟国家对外贸易中的地位。这几年来,美国向东盟国家的出口平均每年增长20％,而从东盟国家的进口则增长25％。美国所占东盟国家进口贸易的份额从1970年的11.6％增至1981年的13.6％,而占其出口贸易的份额则相应从17.8％增至18.4％。 据美国商业部的资料,最近几年东盟国家与美国的贸易情况有如下表(单位:10亿美元):
From the 1970s to the early 1980s, the United States successfully strengthened its position in foreign trade of ASEAN countries. In recent years, U.S. exports to the ASEAN countries have increased by an average of 20% annually, while imports from the ASEAN countries have increased by 25%. The United States share of ASEAN’s import trade increased from 11.6% in 1970 to 13.6% in 1981, while the share of its exports in trade increased from 17.8% to 18.4% accordingly.
