Ahistoric breakthrough in efforts to solve theIranian nuclear issue emerged on July 14,2015,marked by the signing of the JointComprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).On 20thJuly,the UN Security Council ratified the Plan withthe adoption of Resolution 2231.The Plan wasbroadly welcomed by the international community,though it was “not perfect”.Nevertheless,it embodiesthe consensus and the political will of the internationalcommunity for a peaceful solution.The road aheadwill be fraught with uncertainty and even setbacksand reversals,yet the deal has injected a long overduedose of stabilizer to the Middle East,and represents ahard won bright spot in the security architecture of theregion and the world at large.
