Currently, as part of CIMMYT’s development of evaluation and improvement of tropical maize germplasm using restriction fragment length diversity (RFLP), the authors have been working with the University of Missouri in Columbia to study the use of RFLP to monitor the transfer and location of the chromosomal segments of the corn borer . The breeding goal of CIMMYT is to breed maize inbred lines with good agronomic traits that are highly resistant to SWCB. Earlier studies have shown that the resistance to rice stem borer is controlled by polygenes. Due to the recovery of selected parents of the genotype no special reaction, now
