Vampires have come a long way[取得很大进展] since Bram Stoker’s Dracula. While we love the classics, a couple modern twists[新花样] have proven that vampires aren’t just for“wanting to suck your blood” and sleeping in coffins[棺材] anymore. The new guard注1 has taken the vampire out of Transylvania注2 and, often, into high schools (we’re looking at you, Edward Cullen). Thing is: What we thought might be a short-lived fang[尖牙] trend around Twilight time has proven to have major[主要的;显著的] staying power—these dudes just don’t die! In honor of the fact that vampires are still winning the entertainment game, here’s a brief history of the key players who redefined[重新定义] their reputation[名声].
The popularity of vampires rose from its coffin with the introduction of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series. These vampires came back serious and sparkling[闪闪发光的] in the sun, which made them all the more interesting. No wonder Bella was so smitten[迷住] with Edward—it’s not every day you get to go to school with a noble, sensitive[敏感的] vampire who is also super fast, and terribly strong and impossibly dreamy[梦幻般的]. You know, if you’re into that sort of thing.
What’s cool: Edward cares deeply (if you ask someone who’s Team Edward, anyway). And, at well over 100 years old, he also proves you’re never too old to love.
With two times the hotness and a love triangle[三角关系], the Salvatore brothers are the coolest vampires to walk among us yet. High school can get really complicated[复杂的] for a girl when the supernatural is involved[有牵连的], especially if you look exactly like someone’s last lost love. Even with a little eye-contact manipulation[操纵], steaming[冒热气的] graveyards, and a growing number of “animal attacks注3,” these vampire brothers make Mystic Falls a more exciting place to live. What’s cool: Who would have guessed that most sensitive vampires keep a journal? Plus, they (occasionally!) exercise self-control, and look really good in leather.
Like Mean Girls with teeth—literally—Vampire Academy features[由……主演] lady vampires as the heroes. These badass[难以对付的] babes kick some serious butt and make it a lot of fun to watch. Plus, they show that vampires are just like us. OK, like, a way more dangerous version of us, but there are good ones and bad ones and they go to school and get crushes.
What’s cool: These vamps have major bite, as evidenced[证实] by their sharp one-liners[俏皮话] and sassy[精力旺盛的] leading lady who you’ll want to be best friends with.

In 1922, future S

If I were a robot, I would probably not kill all humans.
