Many of Eugene O’Neill’s work include artist images that have a multifaceted meaning: In addition to reproducing some of O’Neill’s plays, they also express a unique perspective on the profession in which they work, and even In the play, the author’s creative approach is implicitly criticized. In O’Neill’s work, the poet’s image is extremely symbolic and is often used to show the antagonism between artists and business society. The novelist’s image conveys O’Neill’s interest in combining novel and drama and his reflection on his possibility. However, the image of the dramatist expresses O’Neill’s request for the performance of the drama. An analysis of the image of the artist in O’Neill’s work can deepen his understanding of his play “autobiography ” and provide vivid material for the study of O’Neill’s drama.
