C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) is a member of the natriuretic peptide family and exerts its biological functions mainly through an autocrine or paracrine pathway. More and more studies have confirmed that CNP and its specific receptor natriuretic peptide receptor B (NPR-B) are highly expressed in human gonads as well as in placenta and embryonic tissues. When the spermatogenesis is mature, follicles Development, early embryo development and other reproductive links were spatiotemporal specific expression, suggesting that CNP may play an important role in the regulation of human reproductive process. This article reviews the molecular structure, signal transduction pathways, biological effects and their role in the reproductive process of CNP.
