Objective To explore the feasibility and effect of using the Internet for the management of patients with chronic diseases in the community. Methods 400 patients admitted to CITIC Huizhou Hospital from January to June 2016 and diagnosed as chronic diseases were randomly divided into observation group and control group with 200 cases in each group. Patients in the control group were treated with traditional pharmacy services. Patients in the observation group were treated with the Internet for pharmacy service intervention. The scores of the safety medication knowledge and safety medication behavior scores, self-management effect, regular referral rate and medication compliance were compared between the two groups. Results In the observation group, the grading of safety medication knowledge and safety medication behavior scores were significantly higher than those of the control group (all P <0.05). The proportion of healthy diet, adherence to moderate exercise and abstinence from abstinence were all significantly higher in observation group (P <0.05). The recurrence rate of the observation group was 98.0%, which was significantly higher than that of the control group (91.0%, P <0.05), and the difference between the observation group and the control group was statistically significant Patients compliance was 97.0%, which was significantly better than 88.0% of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The use of the Internet for the management of patients with chronic diseases in the community helps to improve patient compliance and understanding of their own illness and their satisfaction with pharmacy services.
