光山县位于北亚热带大别山区北侧,淮河以南。地理位置为河南东南部,北纬31°38′～32°12′,东经114°32′～115°11′,北邻息县、潢川,南接新县,东靠商城,西接罗山,是个低山丘陵区。历史上曾有“森林茂密”、“鱼米之乡”之称,后经历代垦伐和不合理的土地利用,造成当前水土流失严重,自然灾害频繁,农业生产低而不稳。因此,开展对光山县土地利用的调查,摸清土地资源的数量、质量;分析土地利用的现状、存在问题及其原因;探讨其合理利用的方向和途径,对本县合理利用和改造自然、高速度发展农业生产具有一定的现实意义。
