In 1950, foreign translator Shabbie put himself into the practice of national translation in New China, and translated Zhao Li-cai’s Banquet, a novel written by Zhao Shuli in 1943 into English. This version is the first translation of Shapiro’s translation, is by far the only English translation. Based on the stylistic features and narrative functions of the original slang, this thesis explores the translation of 13 versions of slab words in Shapor’s translation into four aspects: refining words, saving rhyme, stylistic equivalence, It is believed that Shapiro’s English translation of board language maximizes the stylistic features and storytelling function of Shakespeare because of his creative transplanting to Western folk songs. This not only shows Shapiro’s exquisite translation art, Accurate grasp as well as the unique role of a cultural middleman.
