The spread of AIDS in developing countries is mainly sexual transmission, especially in the opposite sex. With the increasing number of women of child-bearing age living with HIV, by the end of this century, AIDS will afflict women in developing countries with huge numbers. Women are not only susceptible to AIDS, but may also be pregnant and give birth and rearing their children. Every woman’s concern and influence with her loved ones will be crucial to the prevention and control of AIDS. At the same time, women can play a proactive role in promoting changes in unhealthy lifestyles or behaviors. Therefore, the impact of AIDS on women goes far beyond the number of people infected and died.
