1 Oil and Gas Leading Investment Falls On September 14, the IEA released the “World Energy Investment 2016” report, for the first time a detailed analysis of the global energy investment situation. This new annual report provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of investment in different types of energy, technology and countries. Statistics show that in the past year, the total global investment in energy fell from 2 trillion U.S. Dollars in 2014 to 1.8 trillion Dollars, a drop of 8%. Among them, China has once again become the world’s largest energy investment due to its active promotion of policies such as low-carbon energy, smart grid and energy efficiency, while the United States has reduced its investment in the energy sector by nearly 75 billion U.S. dollars due to the drop in oil prices and economic downturn.
