Schistosoma mansoni (Sm) Glyceraldehyde-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) is a 37 kDa antigen that is present in the serum of most resistant patients and has been shown to localize in the epidermis and cytoplasm. The authors explored the molecular basis of this heterogeneity in distribution by constructing a randomly cut genomic DNA fragment library isolated from the cell nucleus of cercariae using the bacteriophage vector λEMBL_3 and performing this library with cDNA encoding Sm GAPDH After testing, a complete genomic clone was screened and sequenced.
