在人造金刚石钻探生产中，钻头性能与质量的好坏，是影响经济效果的主要因素之一。然而，实践证明，在制造厂家保证其加工质量的前提下，用同类钻头钻进不同岩性的岩层，或使用不同的钻进规程钻进同类岩石，其钻头寿命、小时效率以及每米进尺的钻头费用，都会出现很大差异。因此，欲想得到优质、高效、低耗的效果，就必须针对施工地层的特性，所用设备性能以及钻进参数等，对钻头的胎体硬度，金刚石强度、浓度、粒度、保径材料与方法等技术参数认真进行选择。我队近两年来的实践，进一步证明了上述工作的重要性。
