The human and primate placental villus center is a site that contains the fetal vascular bed, many connective tissue cells and macrophages (Hofbauer cells). Previous studies of sub-microstructure have focused on the development and differentiation of trophoblast cells, occasionally paying attention to the interstitial parts. Hertig examines monkey and human early pregnancy specimens and suggests that these tissues in the villus center originate from trophoblast tissue in situ delamination. This article from the rhesus monkey pregnant 16 to 60 days of placental villus take more dense specimens of the following items: (1) the source of endothelial cells and placental villi in the mechanism of angiogenesis. (2) The source of Hofbauer cells. (3) the source of stromal cytoplasmic cells. The results do not support Hertig’s early villi of stromal cells derived from cytotrophobiology
