1. Why did the Uruguay Round negotiate agricultural products? Trade in agricultural products is a key issue in the Uruguay Round negotiations, and its success or failure directly determines the success or failure of the Uruguay Round. The principles and provisions of the GATT have not been effective in constraining world trade in agricultural products, and the GATT itself has allowed some exceptions in agricultural trade.
