Of the travel watercolorists in modern times, John Paiker has the most inspiration to me. In my opinion, travel painting is not the daily style or sketching of painters, but the travel-based act, which uses painting as a way to experience the journey. At the beginning of the last century, John Parker brought a simple watercolor painting tour to the world, allowing readers to enjoy the fun and harvest of travel through paintings. His paintings are not the fruits of any kind of regional culture, but like a wind history, tells a traveler’s perception. No matter from the comprehension of culture, or from the manifestation of spirit, this attitude is a superficial one, but it is quite natural for the traveling painter’s own feelings.
