Objective To investigate the relationship between serum trace elements and recurrent respiratory tract infection in pediatric plateau areas and the causes of recurrence of recurrent respiratory tract infections in children in the plateau over the plain areas. Methods The levels of serum copper, zinc, calcium, magnesium and iron in 72 RRTI children were detected and 72 healthy children in this area were selected as controls. The results were compared with those of RRTI children and normal children Comparison of measurement results. Results Serum iron and zinc in RRTI children in the plateau area were significantly lower than those in normal children in the plateau area, and serum zinc levels in children in the plateau area were generally lower than those in the plain area. Conclusions There are some trace element deficiencies in RRTI children in plateau area. The reason of recurrent respiratory tract infections in plateau areas is higher than that in plain areas. The reason may be that serum zinc level is low in children in plateau area.
