Recent research indicates that leukotrienes play an important role in atherosclerosis. Leukotrienes are formed by the interaction of 5-lipoxygenase and 5-lipoxygenase activating protein (FLAP). Therefore, it is speculated that FLAP inhibitor MK-886 may delay atherosclerosis in the atherosclerotic apolipoprotein E-LDL receptor double knockout mouse model
