According to a recent World Bank report, hourly wages for workers in some capitalist countries are as follows (US$): Germany’s 24.81, Switzerland’s 21.90, Japan’s 16.91, France’s 16.26, US’s 16.04, and UK’s 12.37. In the above capitalist countries, the lives of workers are generally better than in the past. In some countries, some durable consumer goods have entered ordinary families, and even the car industry has become an essential means of transport for workers to work. Then, how do we correctly understand the “high wages” of workers in the advanced capitalist countries? Does it mean that workers’ high wages means that they have already got rid of the status of being employed and exploited?
