海南省拥有我国最大的天然橡胶生产基地,这里有89个产胶农场。自1952年1月华南垦殖局海南分局(海南省农垦总局前身)宣告成立以来,已经在海南岛昔日的荒山峻岭、莽莽荒原上发展成一个具有农垦特色的科研、文教、卫生事业,拥有数十亿元固定资产的农工商运建综合经营、全面发展的大型国营企业。截止2005年12月,在遭受了百年一遇的旱灾和32年一见的台风灾害后,海南农垦然生产了16．17万吨橡胶,但与2004年相仍减产7万余吨。
Hainan Province has China’s largest natural rubber production base, there are 89 producing plastic farm. Since January 1952, Hainan Bureau of South China Bureau of Reclamation (the predecessor of Hainan Provincial Bureau of Land Reclamation) has proclaimed its establishment, it has developed into a scientific research, cultural, educational and health undertaking with the characteristics of land reclamation in the former barren hills and vast wilderness of Hainan Island. A billion yuan of fixed assets of agricultural industry and commerce construction and operation of a comprehensive, all-round development of large state-owned enterprises. As of December 2005, Hainan suffered a total of 161,700 tons of rubber production after suffering a once-in-a-century drought and a typhoon hit by 32 years ago, but still a decrease of more than 70,000 tons in 2004.
