The effects on line spectrum detector performance of signal amplitude fluctuations,which havedifferent time scales,and the fluctuations which are due to the nonstationarity of background noiseare discussed in this paper.The studies indicate that different fluctuations lead to different results,but none of their effects on detection performance can be ignored.In addition,through the analysisof specific problems,the concepts of the minimum detectable signal and the time processing gainare explained in the paper.
