在新中国一千多名开国将军中,坚决要求回乡当农民的不多,甘祖昌就是其中之一。请求回乡当农民甘祖昌,1905年3月出生在江西省莲花县坊楼乡桥头村(现沿背村)一贫苦家庭。1927年7月参加革命,同年8月入党。抗战爆发后,甘祖昌所在部队被改编为八路军第120师359旅,他任旅供给部军需科科长,奔赴抗日最前线。1941年冬,甘祖昌随359旅进驻南泥湾,开展大生产运动。1949年调任第一兵团后勤部部长,进军新疆。
Among more than a thousand founding members of the founding of New China, Gazou Chang resolutely demanded that returning to their hometown should not have many peasants. In 1949, he was transferred to the logistics department director of the First Corps and marched into Xinjiang.
