The Late Cenozoic in the Yangyuan Basin is famous for its well-exposed, clear sequence, rich in paleontology and ancient human remains. In recent years, with the continuous improvement of research accuracy, the detailed stratigraphic division and the use of stratigraphic units are not uniform or even more confusing. We are carrying out research projects such as “1: 50000 Slightly Camps, North Shuizhui Regional Geological Survey and the Study of the Nihewan Reservoir” and “Late Strait Pleistocene Standard Stratigraphic Units in the North of China”, “Xujiayao Formation” and “Re-Research” , The authors carried out multi-stratigraphic division and stratigraphic unit determination of the Pliocene laterite and Nihewan formations in the eastern Yangyuan basin. In view of space constraints, this paper only introduces the relationship between the Pliocene red beds in the Yangyuan basin, the Xujiayao Formation, the Xujiayao Formation and the Nihewan Formation. The main achievements are as follows: 1. The Pliocene red beds in the Yangyuan Basin should be constructed from a multi-genetic red layer from lithostratigraphy, biostratigraphy, magnetic stratigraphy and palaeo-environment analysis. Stone box group. Second, through the Xujiayao site, to the volcanic ash layer of Quaternary geological structure survey and profile determination, the new discovery of fossils, Xujiaochang containing Xu fauna, cultural strata above the era of late The Pleistocene, under the rock strata should belong to the mid-Pleistocene. These results provide a new basis for the lithologic characteristics and properties of late Cenozoic stratigraphic units in the Nihewan basin.
