At present, Spain is the 10th industrial power in the world. However, it was still an agricultural country until the 1960s, and in 1959 per capita national income was only 390 U.S. dollars. From 1960 onwards, after more than a decade of efforts, by 1973, Spain jumped into the ranks of the advanced industrial countries with a per capita income of $ 1,500. Ten years “hit a turnaround.” During this period the average annual economic growth rate of 7.8%, was hailed as another miracle of the European economy. After Franco died (November 1975), Spain’s economy continued to grow. By 1989, per capita national income exceeded US $ 10,000 for the first time. From 1987 to 1989, the average annual economic growth rate exceeded 5%, more than double the average growth rate of the EC countries. According to the OECD’s estimation, Spain’s economy has now entered a period of steady development. In 1992, its economic growth rate could reach 3.3%, which will be 0.5% higher than the average growth rate of the EC countries.
