The newly-published US “Fortune” magazine announced the world’s top 500 largest industrial/service companies according to the 1997 annual sales. US General Motors ranked first with sales of $178.17 billion. The 500th company is Sun Computer of the United States with sales of $8.968 billion. Compared with previous years, the top 50 companies in the 500 major companies are basically unchanged. Most noticeable
