According to Edward Air Force Base, the static ignition test for the 5.5-tonne Hercules 34D solid rocket motor was scheduled on May 4 at the Air Force Aerospace Laboratory. The trial was part of a recovery plan after the failure of the Hercules rocket on April 18, 1986. The test will be performed on a Saturn F-1 engine test rig.
