玻璃艺术品以其天然的、极富魅力的透明性和变幻无穷的光的流动感,保留着人类驾驭自然材料,运用技术手段的能力和创造艺术美的才华。 在玻璃艺术品的晶面上荡漾着人类文明的漪涟。考古证明,远在二千多年前,我国已掌握了制造玻璃的技术,几乎和陶瓷工艺一样历史悠久。古人已开始了使用玻璃(古时也称“琉璃”)作装饰品,制成各种饰品和印章。公元前五世纪,春秋勾践剑上,已用琉璃珠做装饰了。另外如湖南长沙楚墓中的琉璃珠壁,汉墓中的蓝琉璃碗,碧琉璃杯等等。中国闻名于世的陶瓷中的釉、景泰兰工艺都是古代玻璃
