On August 27, the TfL official website announced that it will test an innovative technology that allows specially designed buses to be wirelessly charged when arriving at the station. Starting next year, the project will have four diesel-electric hybrid buses in the eastern part of the country to try out this technology. The authorities hope that through this technology, buses will be able to perform wireless induction charging when arriving at a station and then operate in pure electric mode. The test’s inductive charging technology allows buses to be charged without physical insertion into the unit, providing a more convenient charging option for busy London bus routes. Of course, the vehicles used to test the operation were engineered with diesel engines to replenish the vehicle in time for the battery’s exhaustion.
