Among modern Japanese literary writers, it is rare for such writers as Sato Harvard to develop from “literary concern” in ancient Chinese classical culture to paying special attention to contemporary Chinese politics and creating a large number of related works. Besides showing great interest in Chinese classical Sinology, Sato Chun-fu has had different degrees of relations with Yu Dafu, Tian Han, Guo Moruo, Xu Zhimo, Zhou Zuoren, and even the literary giant Lu Xun in the May Fourth Movement. In the past, due to the lack of information on the domestic research, most of them only involved Yu Dafu, while others were to be discovered or verified. The purpose of this article is to clarify and reveal the relationship between Sato Haruo and the founder of the modern drama movement in China, the leader of the outstanding theater scene and Tian Han, the author of the national anthem lyrics.
