Abstract:Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP)is an integration of a company’s system to bind more closely all the different functions in the company while at the same time linking the company to external customers and vendors.This may include manufacturing,distribution,personnel,project management,payroll,and financials.ERP systems are also information systems for identifying and planning the enterprise-wide resources needed to take,make,distribute,and account for customer orders.In this report,the discussion and analysis is on a gas pipeline construction planning and scheduling.Due to the confidentiality reasons and the sensitivity of the data given,the actual company name and its pipeline project title are not mentioned in this report.The company,PACS Construction,has completed a gas pipeline project called Lucky Gully Gas Pipeline Project in the middle of this year.The planned schedule for this pipeline has been delayed due to several reasons.Some issues found are the resource allocation and work scheduling based on the availability of crew working on this project.The main purpose of the project discussed in this report is to look into the given data and analyse,find out the basic components resulting in the delay and utilising the ERP skills and tools to improve the project schedule with better resource allocation and work scheduling.Discussions on using the appropriate ERP tools will be covered in the report.Recommendations based on the suggested ERP tools are brought up in the report to provide a better and optimised scheduling/planning for this project and for other similar pipeline projects in the future.
