The Situation of Beijing’s Traditional Chinese Medicine Before the Liberation Beijing Municipality has a total population of 1.8 million in nine districts inside and outside Beijing, and in September 1950, there were 1,282 registered Chinese medicine practitioners in the Public Health Bureau. More concentrated in the commercial prosperity of densely populated areas, followed by the inhabitant area, the least poor neighborhoods. Statistics by specialty: general medicine accounted for 66%, pediatrics, gynecology, surgery, each 20%, acne accounted for 10%, orthopedics accounted for 3%. In the past, practicing Chinese medicine, most people suffered from poor income and few people.
